day 6 - Kanchanaburi sunburn

Wole up this morning after a sleepless night.....my little cottage was not so great as the river boats are passing more frequently and hence there are more waves.....even though it is on semi solid foundations and not pontoons. In any case I had been talking to an english gentlman the night before and he had informed me that the jolly frog may be more my liking that and the fact they had 70Baht rooms was the appealing factor.....so I set off on my way. First things first though a means of transport. Now Thailand is a crammed place so they all use these little scooter type things....well they look like scooters. Looks definatly deceive. For a little engine thet can definatly move. Well my one does in anycase. After the usual run around by the wanker by the guesthouse trying to make a buck I headed to the KTC (Kanchanaburi Tourist Centre) Noi who is a friend of the owner of the bluestar had been told that I was coming to see him and I ment business. Noi gave me a good deal however something else caught my eye. All manual bikes are generally 100cc which are zippy however the 125cc is just that bit more. Now i had found not just a 125cc manual but a new honda wave racing which is like a bently round town. Noi had just got it and I wanted it. After a bit of a chat he accepted. 150Baht per day was the price a steal as it was new.

After that it was a zip through the back streets of Kan to get to WAT THAM MUNGKORNTHONG now this is one of many temples in Thailand that have caves however these were used to store ordinance by the Japanese during the war. After a quick race with a local on a similar wave I got to the highway. On the road again. Well so I thought. It took me 1 temple and around 15 trips up and down the road to find this WAT (temple) In anycase I found it. Walking up to the steps (now all temples have steps...well most do so prepare for a walk) I was looking back over Kan and could see to the lime works which was interesting. after a small 5baht donation I was in through the tight tight caves and out again. A little boy assiting with the photo. Little blury but he did well for the conditions.

Now.......after climbing back down the steps....I can to yet another little shack with ice and pepsi...so i thought I would document the ice bag coke/pepsii thing for you all now once and for all. Mainstream coke and pepsi products are still bottled in glass. Hence they get a rebate for bottles on pickup/delivery....and so it is cheaper as a bottle is 5baht to the owner. So what they do is give you a bag of ice with a straw and empty your drinkinto it....nifty huh...there you go new zealand and the world.

After this I thought it a good idea that I find my own way to my next stop. Which was the CHONGKAI War cemetery. However instead I ended up in the middle of nowhere 3 times. After a while I got tired of it and backtracked. I did find a working sawmill with bandsaws and everything in the middle of the sticks I thought it appropriate along the way and saw a nice backdrop for a photo shoot.

Unfortunatly the computer is going to crap out....so I will leave the belgian girls for tomorrows rant. Ciao.
